Button found when I lived in Sioux Falls, SD
Looks military to me, but have no idea.

Thanks for looking

Dan

It's cold out today so have nothing better to do than post some pics.

I can't tell if it has a back mark, what ever that is, because it has some corosion stuck to the back. I really don't want to clean it. All I did so far was to take a toothbrush and soap to it.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to do some research on buttons and that era.

Dan

Yeah it's clean enough, I have found the same identicle buttons at a couple 1860's cavalry posts in Colorado. I only have a couple though, don't find too many staff officers buttons.it's anywhere from 1860's-1900 I bet it's at least 1880's or earlier being from that area.

The closest I can find is in Alberts Button Book. Page 293, Example 13A. A General Staff Officer button. Being a cuff button the features are squished, but the shield shape is a match. Very nice find.
