got a button to day at 7 ins it a new york state seal button on the back it sayscovill mfg .co waterberry state of new york and got two idian head one a 1881 and 1899 <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
 
Sounds like maybe NY 32A, which would be post-war.

Probably 1880's. I think that particular backmark was used from about 1875 to 1890.
