Has anyone ever found a button like this before? It measures at 19mm, gold gilt and has 12 stars and the back is completely gone, bummer! No backmark <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry">
Just to give you an idea of the area where I found this button, I'm hoping it is CW period. Found at a Union campsite close to the border of Missiouri and Kansas. Quantrill and his rebels came and shot up and burnt the place twice. That's why Union troops were stationed there to patrol the town close to the border. Can't find this button in the button book but it sure is odd that it has 12 stars. Could this be from the Confederate raiders or is it just an old civilian button? Any ideas out there? Thank you.

Looks to be an overall button most had a tin back and came in all different styles.
