I found these items last week along the Richmond Defenses. These are my first two Eagle Buttons, and I uderstand the Confederate Staff is a good one. I'm Curious about the W.U. Button. It has a Browning King Backmark ca to 1860. Also any idea about the two silver pieces that look like cufflinks. All were found in a 20x40 area.......thanks.

I found a WU button within the Confederate lines at Nashville some years ago. Same b/m as yours. Western Union was suggested but no proof. Could be anything; Western University etc. There were so many small Colleges, Universities and Institutes, we'll never find all of them. I can say it's associate with CS troops. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. :) Nice digs, but too digital to see clearly. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
