Around the punch dots there is a leafy pattern not seen in the pic. due to my camera being broken. Had to scan the button.
Its copper and i found it next to a house that was built in 1795. It measures 1 and 1/2 " . Im hoping that one of the smart folks here can help me out. thanks for looking .
...actually for coins and buttons, even thicker objects, often a scanner will do as good a job or better than a camera. When you lay it on the glass, especially with thicker objects, lay a piece of white paper on top of it and let it drape over to give a background. (careful not to scratch your glass with any dirt or anything)
If you can, set your scanner for 200%, 300% or even 400%, for more detail and post a larger picture. Don't worry if it is too dark. If you don't have image software to brighten it, someone on the forum can do it for you.
Also, if you can, include a scan of the back to show the thread loop and backmarks if there are any.
It appears to be a very nice colonial cloak button. NICE!! Probably no back mark, as I've never seen a cloak button with a back mark. One of the prettiest ones I've seen.
