Button and lock on Easter weekend

Well-known member
Had a nice day out and found some old iron pieces including a lock and a piece with a post on it and what appears to be a cast heart shaped insert. There is some text imprinted in the heart that we can not make out. Not sure what it is. Don't see any text on the lock so don't know what make or how old lock is.

Also found a nice button, quick search makes me think it is a rifleman button from a little before the civil war. Text on the back is "orange gilt colour".

Any suggestions on more accurately identifying these items is much appreciated.
Cheers,
tvr
