Hello, I bought a MXT in june a d have the 6+10 eclipse DD coil and like it I am woundering about the butterfly coils that just came out. I have read good and bad reviews about them, Need to know if they are a difficult coil to use, i read that one person sais that the beginner and novice may have a hard time with this coil. I live in Michigan and really want a bigger coil, are they worth buying? Kent

I use the 10x12 SEF Excelerator search coil and it was not hard to use at all. It pinpoints in the valley on both the toe and heel. I have been testing the coil for a couple of months now and I really have not had any big issues with it. I really like using it. It was not designed to hunt in trashy areas, but for open areas and believe me it covers alot of area and misses very little. Look back on some of my previous posts where I posted finds found with the butterfly coil. HH Dennis in Idaho

Hey Kent,

Nice choice on the MXT! The 15x12 SEF "Butterfly" Coil that I have been testing out for a few weeks has been great. And, even though it's a large coil, I would definitely consider using this as my everyday coil. Here's why:

1) Most obvious with large coil- Tremendous Depth Gains.
2) Superior Target Separation.
3) Awesome Target Identification.
4) You can cover a lot of ground more quickly.
5) Pinpointing can't be any easier than with this coil.

I don't know if you have seen Part 1 of my SEF Coil test but it outlines a lot of the mentioned reasons:

If you have any specific questions about the coil, by all means, ask!
