i just recently got 2 new black bullseye pinpointers. the 2 units look idintical but have different buttons on them. one unit just has a rubber covered button that seems spring loaded push in for power and activation let off to kill unit and shut off power. the second unit has a rubber coated toggle type switch that is similar to the toggles on a mxt it flips up to power on unit then you can push in to pinpoint coin let off button then turn toggle down to turn off unit. has anyone else saw the two variations of these black bullseyes. and why 2 different switches. is one better than the other? all replies will help as im going to keep the better unit and sell the other. thanks please reply

Pulltab,
I have seen and used both models the only real difference is the button style is less prone to being powered on in your pouch while hunting. The toggle switch is nice because it has two position, one which is spring loaded for quick locating and springs back to the off (center) position when let go, it also has a locked on position which allows for your fingers to be free and not have to hold down the toggle. Though it is more prone to being accidently turned on.
Hope this helps

I spent a couple of weeks trying to convince a whites repair service that the push button is worthless. I had a new bullseye in which the button broke in less than 3 times out and the guy had the audacity to tell me to push it gently in straight up and down. I asked him if he was serious and he finally consented to send me a new switch out of the kindness of his heart. That was LARGE of him...
My old Automax Precision V2 from Kellyco, that everyone trashes, is a better probe than the bullseye pushbutton unit. Although I do like the bullseye size.
So keep the switch, which I also recommended to the whites repair guy... , and send the button pushin unit back. If you don't the rubber boot will come off, etc. etc.
You may also find that the bullseye may cause falsing if not adjusted correctly. If you have problems with that email me and I will give you the adjustments that seem to work okay.

I'm new to the forum, but wanted to reply. I had the push-button type Pinpointer only about a month when the boot gave out and let dirt sift into the button area. My dealer said they were having trouble with this and had to send my Pinpointer back to be replaced. While waiting, I purchased an extra unit on ebay. When the new unit came from White's, it was the toggle type. Also,I had trouble with the original Pinpointer signal, which stayed active when I moved the unit away from a target, the same thing happens with the toggle unit (this was addressed in an earlier post). It is aggravating, but all I can afford for now. The disadvantage of the toggle unit is that it sometimes turns itself on when in my backpack or pocket, but superior to the push button unit as it has no boot to break apart. I'll be looking for a different brand when I can afford it.
It's been great reading all the posts about the MXT, my first and only metal detector. I have learned lots already. Thanks for the information.
