Bullet

I found this bullet at a place where we relic hunt. My hunting buddy said it was a 45-70 when we were down at the site. I got home and weighed it and calipered it and it is too large to be 45-70. The bullet calipers about 0.512- 0.515. It weighs about 443.5 grains. I am assuming that it was a 50 caliber. The base is not hollow like a Minnie ball, but is very slightly cupped. It was dug up about 6-7 inches deep. It was with my V3i and a 6x10 ellipse coil. It hit about 70 VDI. I am just trying to see if I can pin down what rifle shot this bullet.

Thanks, Metalfun. It was the first Civil War bullet that I have found. I did find a couple of musket balls or really, they were pistol balls, later on that day. Hoping to find more soon.

anyone??? it came from a Texas civil war soldiers camp or travel route.
