Bullet ID Help

Hello All,
I have been hunting an antebellum homesite in MS for about 6 months. I have found a group of bullets and melted lead, plus an eagle I button and a cuff button within a 100 foot area. I was wondering the ID of the bullets and any ideas of why they were only in this one area of the yard, the property was 7 acres and there were no other concentrations on the property. Also, I found the random threaded lead object in the area too. Thanks.

In the first pic on the far left is an enfield bullet and the other 3 look to be .58 caliber which were the most common.
In the second pic from left to right. First is a .52 caliber sharps Second one I believe is a .50 caliber smith carbine....not quite sure. Third i think is a richmond lab. Last is a ringtail sharps
Nice finds

James ID'd your bullets. I only would add that the 3rd and 4th bullets (pic #1) are machined or "swaged" bullets. The grooves were added by a lathe, which was done by hand. Nice finds, David @ Dixie

Concentrations of troops and therefore their relics around farmhouses is a variable thing. Mostly those around a farmhouse would be officers with enlisted in an outlying area near the barns etc. Most of your bullets appear to be carbine bullets which implies cavalry and they would not have stayed around any farmhouse very long as they had to be on the move. This lack of stay also contributes to small numbers of relics. If you look at the picture below it shows the typical camping of officers around a farm house at a well established freight depot associated with train traffic. Note that the officers' tents around the house are not set out in rank and file but are placed in clumps around the house. So it's quite possible that you would find relics in clumps and unevenly spread around the farmhouse. Add to that a non-lengthy stay and the number of finds would go down as well as being spotty.

Hope this helps.
