This is actually my first projectile--not gold or silver but an exciting find for sure. Someone who finds these more often would be able to confirm this but when I looked at it more closely I saw what look like teethmarks all the way round. It's not easy to dent with teeth so I hate to think what the soldier (the area saw skirmishes and is a block from a very old military cemetary) went though. That there is no damage to the sides indicates that it was not fired.

I have heard of people actually biting the bullet or a piece of wood during some medical procedures back then and it looks like you found evidence.
 
I just found a bullet in a bullet. The rifle must have exploded when this happened... I'll post it soon.
 
I have a couple of British musket balls with teeth marks. Like Mike said, they used to bite them when enduring a painful medical procedure such as an amputation.
