Built in 1854 as a Courthouse at Castroville, Texas...........

This old building was built in 1854 at Castroville, Texas to serve as a courthouse when Castroville was named the County Seat for Medina County. The building was constructed from native limestone with walls eighteen inches thick. In 1892, the courthouse was turned into a school after the County Seat was moved to Hondo, Texas. In 1968, the school closed and the building became the City Hall for Castroville, and remains so to this day. Over the years, the two wings to the building, and the front stairs leading to the second floor were added. It is a beautiful old building. Kelley (Texas) :)
