how come yours is silver looking. Everyone I find is a dark reddish brown. Is it the soil type its been lying in or what I wonder.

I concur. Have NEVER found a buff that was shiny. War nickels, yes, but never a buffalo nick. Most of the time can't read the date either.

I have found hundreds of Shield, Liberty V, Buffalo and Jefferson nickels over the years, and none of them came out of the ground resembling anything like a silver colored coin. Many of them are so soft that when you even wipe them off, the face of the coin will disintegrate right in your hands. I have always attributed both traits to the iron in the soil around here. I have tried using all types of chemicals, electrolosis, tumblers and even resorted to rubbing them with a pencil eraser. Nothing ever came out like the one posted. Come on Boxtopp. Give us a few pointers on how you got this one so clean. HH

Personally I think if he "found" it someone just lost it last week lol
