Buffalos And A Barber Quarter

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
Went out on a hunt a few days ago and found three Buffalos and no silver. The last Buffalo I dug was stuck in a coin ball and I left it to show my wife and kids. I tried to keep it like that but it fell out. Saturday my Dad and I went to an old house lot he knew about and got permission for me to hunt. The very first good signal rang in as a 12-45 and I was hoping for a silver dime. I popped my plug and found a nice older wheatie. I thought that was too high to just be a wheat in the hole so I checked my hole and saw the Barber quarter and another wheat. That was my only good signal but it was a nice one. It's back to being dry around here so I hope we get some more rain soon. HH David.

Great finds, what were the dates on the wheats? One can learn a bunch from coin spills. If the wheats were from the 20s (for example), you'd have a pretty good indication of what a Barber quarter condition was after 10 years or more of circulation.

really nice stuff there SD.....!!!!! Keep em coming...!!!!! Real hot/dry here also so I'm laying low for the time being.....

You are spot on with your example ducktrapper. The wheats are 1924 and 1927, so I'm guessing they were all dropped in the late 20's.

Beautiful pictures! Congratulations on some great looking finds. Even those buttons look neat!
