Does anyone have any info on a bullet that could be from a sharp's buffalo rifle probably from the late 1800's to the early 1900's? Is it a common find?
hiya,,they made milliuons of rounds in varying cals. for those wonderful rifles,so if its big,,then its probably one of them,,,the most common bullet that the sharps fired was the 50-90 , 600 grain bullet,(big),,the calibre that Billy Dixon used for making his famous long range shot, its something like 1573 yds approx.,,at the battle of Adobe Walls,,but they made other calibres,,the first was a .52 cal, 475 grain bullet in 1848 and then a lot of cals, between .40 to 50 later,,the original rifle was built by a.s.Nippes at Mill Creek, Pensylvania,,and then moved to vermont to the R & L factory in 1851,then to another R & L factory in hartford where it developed further,,,totally iconic,,wish we were as free regarding firearms as we used to be,,,too mamby- pamby these days,,,rgds
