Buckles

New member
Found these two buckles recently. The larger one is curved and the smaller one is flat. Is there anyway to estimate their ages and what they might have been used for? I'm guessing the larger one was for a harness, but based on the tongue it seems to be curved in the wrong direction, away from the horse. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks

Larger one could be shoe buckle..hard to say...they used tons of buckles in colonial times..on horses..on thier hats,belts,shoes..knee buckles..quite a few at one time..ive found probaly close to a dozen so far this year, all different sizes....Curt
