We my friend Joe and I started off at the old hotel and I hit a 1944 mercury and a old dog tag and some clad so we were driving and Joe said let’s stop here a this old school
So I agreed and we were there only 10 minutes and had a 35- 39 in field two wow it was an unbelievable screaming high tone so I cut a nice plug and at the bottom of the hole
I saw the eagle on back I could not believe it my first Barber half1903 O!!!
I called joe over he was stunned!
Then we headed towards the front field and I dug a 31 signal a nice but worn SLQ then I dug some clad and a few wheats then back up where I hit the SLQ and I had another 31-32
Deep broken signal so I made sure to cut a accurate plug and there in the middle was an unbelievable condition 1917 SLQ I have never seen a more crisp old SLQ. Come out of the ground!
So it was getting late 8:30 we packed it in just a spectacular afternoon we will be going back I doubt this spots been hit so hopefully more great finds from this spot !

Dream day metal detecting! What a fantastic day, congrats on the beautiful silver.
Thanks it was our last stop we only hunted for couple hours this spot maybe 1 hour but I’ll be going back at night don’t want people seeing me hunt this virgin ground .

Mkus,

You may already know this, but there is a Type I SLQ only made in 1916 and part of 1917. On the Type one's Liberty had one boob exposed, causing a bit of a hoo ha. They covered her up on the type IIs and added the three stars under the eagle on the reverse.

Great condition and the Type IIs are worth more.

Congrats on that and the Barber half.
