Bryce, Is this the warbly, flutey sound???

Isn't it wonderful when we try to describe sounds or sights??? :super: I am still waiting to hear the "warbly flutey sound," but I know it is not too far off now. At 4:35 of this video, is this the infamous "warbly, flutey sound?" The flute sound I completely grasp, it is the warble that is confusing me. Thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy this vid of a California hunt in one of downtown LA's, pounded parks. Chris http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a25SgY7IJNU

Great video, and thanks for it! I can't tell the difference, as I seem to get the same warble on either, but I will sure enough dig it just in case. I can't afford to totally trust my sound ravaged 64 year old ears.

I can only guess that after a few thousand targets are dug, my ears will eventually figure it out. But even the best detectorist is still fooled by a deep nail occasionally. Right Bryce? lol !

I'm with you Chuck, I am digging anything that resembles that sound. And as for trusting those old ears, I hear you loud & clear. :super:

I think you have hit it right on the nail Dave, eventually our ears will figure it out. Chris

You're welcome Fred. What I like about the vid is the fact that we can actually hear the sound. Now if it is "the" sound, it would even help more. I am hoping that someone can confirm that this is the tone we are all seeking. Chris

Similar....yet different.

I only know what I hear through my headphones...and while it's similar to what is heard hear....it's no where as "warbly" as it is through the headphones.

On one hand...yes very similar. On the other hand very different because a good set of headphones can make that signal much more "warbly" and distinct.

Nothing wrong with the sound being heard in the mentioned video though...and a nice example of a "dig me" signal.

Thank you Bryce. Your observation is greatly appreciated. I am at the beginning stages of learning the language of the SE, and I would say I have about half of the alphabet learned, but nowhere near able to spell "dog" yet, or begin reading or writing.

I know how difficult it is to describe a color or sound. Your description of the "warble" is beginning to make all the sense in the world to me now. :clapping:

Again, thank you. Chris
