Brushed off the Excalibur today

Buried Crap NJ

New member
It was nice to be able to hunt within a hour and half from home. Some towns are opening the beaches to the public since Hurricane Sandy.I have only hunted 6 times since the storm its been killing me as I normally hunt 40 plus hours a week! I hunted with the Excalibur today.
Hunted the Low tide 8 am today with very rough sea's, the beaches up here are so small and the wave action was big. I started in the rain and went without waders and choose a rain slicker instead. The first two hours I was ok digging coins pretty randonly. Then as the tide came up I was jammed against the dunes and got wet. I did manage to scoop 60 coins in 5hrs three silver dimes 1960 rosie and two mercs no dates! 9 wheat pennies.
Tomorrow I will ware the waders as the better coins were low in hollowed out depressions.

your excal has always treated you well........ i hope to do a day trip to the jersey shore over the holidays.... do you know where i can find a list of open and closed beaches??? sure would hate to drive 2 and a half hours for nothing..... dave...

Dave the further south you go or north you go. From Bayhead south to Island Beach State Park closed.(15 miles) Pt Peasant north open for the most part. if you can't get on in one town the next one is open. LBI is open south to cape may.

nice finds bcnj and good to now about the beaches, Ive got a few days off coming up.

So long as you dig or scoop one piece of silver, coin or ring, even if the gold doesn't turn up, we always call that a great hunt, on land or in the water.

Yeah! Good to see you were out working it! Great old coins...who knows? Gotta be gold hiding in there, if that old silver didnt get found.
