Brought a 1980's JW Fisher Pulse 8 back to life!!

Well I purchased this detector from Craigslist a while back and it wouldn't hold a charge. I took the detector to Batteries Plus and removed the old rechargeable pack from it to find that all 7 cells were badly corroded and 2 wires had split (Guess that's why it didn't work lol). Well they were able to make me a brand new 8.4V NiMH pack for $35!! I just got it home and spliced the wires by hand (still need to butt connect and heat shrink them) and turned it on.... Battery LED check came on with a full charge!! SHE'S ALIVE MUAHAHA lol.

It's going nuts in the house which is due to the EMI and metal I guess so still need to take her outside and see if she sees metal fine. If so then it's off to the beach I go with my circa 1981 JW Fisher Pulse 8 PI unit. It runs at 100 pulse per second and the factory assures me it is still a top competitor in the detecting market. It's main purpose was to be used as a diving detector and its newer cousin the Pulse 8X replaced it and is used by many top pro treasure seekers. Hopefully she puts me on the gold and is still waterproof (fingers crossed).

I'll keep ya guys posted on its progress and will include some pics soon!!
