i have a bounty hunter quick draw 2. and no its not a pc. of junk!! i do very well with it. had it for years, but now the plug for the head phones seems to be loose. now i have to move it around to get sound in both ears. is there a easy fix. thanks

I have one too... first one I ever had. You're right, it's not junk :) I found a lot of coins with that machine and it's what got me addicted to this hobby.

On the face of the machine you should see four screws. If you can remove those you should be able to pull the controls out of the housing (although I've never done it). One part of the headphone jack has spring tension to it which makes the headphone plug "click" into place. It's probably just opened up too much after years of use. If you can get to it, just try to push the clip in a little (make the opening smaller). Or, if you're handy with a soldering gun, just take it off and go to radio shack for a replacement and solder it back on. Cheap fix.

However, before you do that, try some tuner or contact cleaner spray first. It could also be as simple as being dirty. Spray it inside the jack and on the plug; then move the jack in and out a couple of times. When it dries, give it a whirl.

Good luck!

ya know, i did what you said, and the pc. of metal on the inside plug, i pushed in and tryed it. it works great now. thanks joe... im new to this site, and im a christian, didnt think there would be a site like this for us.. i was on the other metal site. and let me tell you, i gave this guy the write anwser, but someone else had to make fun of me, like i was telling him a lie! thanks again joe.

Over here we don't call anyones detector junk! :) They are all good! If the guy knows the machine, he will find treasure! :) If the earphones are cheaper ones, you may have to scrap them? Many of the more expensive ones have lifetime warrenty! I hope it all works out for you! God bless!

Glad it worked out with the headphones!

I couldn't believe there was a forum like this either :) You won't see the nonsense here that you see on some others. Real nice bunch of people too.
