Broke the Ice with GOLD

Took a trip to Glynn county for an annual golf tournament I play in with a work buddy. Jekyll Island ya see and so I thought Hmmmmm... Yep! I'm takin the Excal.
Now, afore the bluenoses pipe in with the fact that Jekyll is a State Park... I know that, I didn't hunt that beach. (this time) We traipsed over the the adjacent Saint Simon's Island beach. Now we'd been there earlier this year when the tide and the weather wasn't fit nor was I dressed for conditions which made for a miserable and heretofore unposted hunt.
SSI beach is a fairly clean beach in that there wasn't an over abundance of pulltabs and foil. (yet) Even so you can still stay busy with a PI. Now my golfin buddy was to meet us @ the beach and his wife brought her two knobbed White's Classic 800 which he began walking around with like the GEICO Caveman. That as I think about it now is funny but it wasn't then. And of course he got up close to me jabberin and becoming a nuisance to serious detecting but I managed not to let it get to me and continued digging a coin now and again. Not a target-rich environment ya see. As I worked my way back past where I'd begun I didn't get too far before I heard that tone that set's the loins tuning fork to humming. Nice low-pitched signal. Now mind you, this is the first time I've heard that sound for real this year and so I didn't get too exited thinking that I was probably about to dig a stinkin nickel. So I call my buddy over and tell him it's a nickel while he's spreading out the sand I scooped up. Lo and behold this 14kt ticket with the chips in it comes into view. Now I'm thinkin Whoa boy!! Broke the ice on gold for this year and there's still a trip to the gulf coast of Fla coming in June!! As I do the happy dance. I spent a little more time at it that evening and after the first round to golf on Friday. I WENT BACK!! Unlike my unpleasant trip weeks ago I was dressed properly and the tides were such as I would be chasing it out allowing maximum time to hunt uncovered beach, I love that!
Started hunting again and was having more luck as I dug a couple of earrings and what I have now discovered to be a .925 dolphin toe ring, golf buddy shows again sans detector and we have share good company for a while till he and the wife split. It's near six and I see my wife heading my way so I'm fearing she wants to do likewise but she tells me keep hunting, she'll warm up in the car and read. I'm darned glad too cause 5 minutes later the tuning for is humming again and out pops that pretty 10kt thin ladies wedding band. TWO gold rings! I'm happy dancin again!!
Here's the pictures, and Craig, I dug a bobby pin just for you but I didn't keep it.
Happy hunting you all.
Now, since the site doesn't like my pictures, and I don't know how to make them "likeable" nor have I uploaded them to Photobucket, you can see'em @metaldetectingforum.com in Beach and Shallow water hunting section Look for GaBeachsweeper
