Broke some records this weekend

Hooked up with a friend Saturday and Sunday. The place we were hunting has been hunted before but from our finds you could tell that not this particular spot on the property.
Ended up with 20 silver coins, 5 Buffalo Nickels, and 67 Wheat pennies. Broke my record for most silver and wheats in a day. Also first Franklin Half and Canadian silver:). Was also nice to see the Buffalo Nickels as I don

Was that your hunting partner's finds combined with yours or just your finds? Great looking lot of Silver. Must have been a heck of a good spot you guys were at! I like the Indian Head also. Very old and in very nice shape. I hope you return to that spot since there is so much more out there to find that you originally thought and Good Luck and HH.

Hi Mirage

I was wondering if you notice much more depth with your explorer
over the Quattro? Your find were very good with the Quattro too.
why do you think your getting more nickles now?

OH and hows your son doing with his DFX?

Was also a full weekend. My son went with us for a bit and found a seated dime. Pretty bad shape but still a seated.

Very, very nice collection there Mirage. I think you have a good spot there especially if your buddy got more than you did......:) Good luck on your next trip back there. HH.

Jerry, Thats not bad. Usually I would be happy with that. There are some weekends when all I get are wheats.

Park. Told the guy who showed me the spot that I would keep details few until we have hunted it well. There are still good spots out there. Go get em!

Hey folks...when I post here on Findmall (which is kinda rare) I usually post on the Garrett forum (I use an ACE250)
I'm the guy who took Mirage and his son to the spot (code name Iceberg)
Here's a few pics of just my finds from last weekend. I hope that it's ok posting it on Bob's thread here, as it was not a Minelab that found these :)

Thanks Bob for keeping this on the downlow. It took quite a bit of research to even find the area, and a LOT of time in the field to narrow it down.

Not to mention your envious finds, but your picture posts are outstanding also! How do you do it? I have a tiny quality digital camera and have problems with focus and indoor lighting. What photo program do you use? It's comforting to see someone has paid off their detector investment with finds...

WTG with all the finds! And you managed to find a Barber Dime as well. See everyone! Research pays off and if you go and find these spots and get permission from the land owner, then you can make finds like these. Once again, Congrat's and Good Luck and HH.

What you need:

1. Digital camera that has a "close up function". I use a cheap Nikon Coolpix 2.1 Megapixel camera that I got at Walmart for $125. There is a "Scene" mode. You have to "program" the camera so that in "Scene" mode it knows you want to take close ups. You can set the scene mode for night, fast shots, etc. Set it for Close ups.

2. A piece of dark colored nice looking cloth or towel.

3. A light that is rated at least 400 Watts. Halogen work lamps work well. Got one at Sears for about $20.

For Picture Taking:

1. Place the light about 1 ft away at an angle(you can experiment with diff angles/distances).
2. Arrange the finds neatly and in some kinda of order. Try to put them as close together as possible.
Keep a little of the interesting junk to put in picture to "frame" your good finds.
3. Center the image in the camera viewfinder. Position so that there is little void space in the picture. And Shoot. Take multiple shots at diff. distances and angles. I usually take about 6 pictures and then select the best one of the six.

Edit:
Crop, resize to aprox 600 pixels wide and save as a .JPG. I use JASC Paintshop Pro(somewhere around version 7).

Post!

If you don't have a Macro function you will have to take shots at farther distances. You should still be able to edit the photo to get decent "close up" resolution. A 1600x1200 photo that is cropped to 1/4 of it's size might not require any additional reduction.
