Broke my At/Pro today

I hadn't been able to get my dirt fishing fix for nearly 3 weeks and our church had an association meeting in another neighbouring county so off to the river I went. It was after 3 pm time I got my chest waders on and everything else ready and I decided to change the 8. 5 X 11 coil to the sniper for some close places I've wanted to work for quite some time. The bolt was so tight, I used pliers to get it loose and I guess because I was in a hurry and didn't have much time, I put the bolt back on with the pliers. It snapped off and went flying and this was the one time I didn't have a spare bolt or my 2500 with me. You win some, you lose some. Lesson learned, but I sure felt stupid when it happened. I'll call A & S and get a spare set or two, just in case I pull a bone head stunt like this again. Combine getting in a hurry and arthritic hands and this is what happens. I hate to drive almost 18 miles to metal detect and had the swim park all to myself except for the boats and pulled a stunt like this. Hope the rest of the members had a better detecting day than this.

+1 on the toilet seat bolt! I have one in my pouch just in case too.

They work on the AT'S and Whites, Had to use one more than once, hunting in the winter, those bolts get brittle, Grubstake

Next time eh Fongu, who knows maybe what you were supposed to find, the river is still washing away the top layers for ya to get it lol. HH next and there's always tomorrow eh.

Sorry to hear about that...:sadwalk: You are due for a good day out! Pullling for you!:clapping:

I'm soory to hear about your oops, fongu. Consider a lower shaft with each coil, may just save on the frustrations. HH

Heck, I would've made one out of a stick! :detecting:

That's a bummer. I have a spare I carry in my ditty bag, but also have lower rods on all my coils. Find it saves some time and aggravation. HH jim tn

I put the toilet bolt into the shaft and the coil and it snugged up tight. Haven't tried it outside or in the water, but hope to try it Saturday. I want to get some lower shafts like I have for my GTI-2500, but will have to wait on that. I did order two bolt and nut sets, tho. It's real hard for me to get some detecting time due to my elderly mama's declining health and when I get outside, I want to spend every minute I have detecting and I guess I made a mountain out of a mole hill, Sunday. Knowing I only had 3-4 hours detecting time, I got into a big hurry and screwed up. Lesson learned and I will have a spare bolt or toilet seat bolt as a back up from now on. HH.

Hi Fongu, I did buy the lower rod with the smaller coil, the only minus is the price, makes the coil changes much faster. Artie
