Broke my At/Pro today

I hadn't been able to get my dirt fishing fix for nearly 3 weeks and our church had an association meeting in another neighbouring county so off to the river I went. It was after 3 pm time I got my chest waders on and everything else ready and I decided to change the 8. 5 X 11 coil to the sniper for some close places I've wanted to work for quite some time. The bolt was so tight, I used pliers to get it loose and I guess because I was in a hurry and didn't have much time, I put the bolt back on with the pliers. It snapped off and went flying and this was the one time I didn't have a spare bolt or my 2500 with me. You win some, you lose some. Lesson learned, but I sure felt stupid when it happened. I'll call A & S and get a spare set or two, just in case I pull a bone head stunt like this again. Combine getting in a hurry and arthritic hands and this is what happens. I hate to drive almost 18 miles to metal detect and had the swim park all to myself except for the boats and pulled a stunt like this. Hope the rest of the members had a better detecting day than this.

Toilet seat bolts make great replacements for holding on the coil in an emergency. Main thing is to not lose the rubber washers.

My Ace 359 all of a sudden has a glitch in the lcd screen, one of the bars above sens. runs to the top of screen and anything right of that you can't see!! Hope Garrett can help, I just bought it in August.......hate to hear when machines break down!!!

Glad it wasn't a major problem, better luck next time, hank

Sounds just like something i'd do,lo! Seems like everytime we get in a hurry, it slows things down! Getting older doesn't help much either. You'll get it next time. ..HH

John, it worked. I haven't been able to get loose to try it in the field or water, but it snugged up good and tight. Thanks..

I made a bigger deal out of it than it was, Hank. But, I had been looking forward to a little detecting time and it really got me upset when it happened. Especially since I had struggled into my chest waders and had all my gear ready and didn't have but 3-4 hours to hunt. I hope I can go Saturday. Mama seems to be having more and more health problems and it's real hard for me to get away to do some dirt fishing and when something like this happens, it really gets me discombobulated with myself. I will take the 2500 and spare toilet bolts with me from now on as spares.
sjohn61, hope you get your detector working. That's more serious than my little problem. HH.

I took it to the river today and it worked great with the toilet bolt and nut. Found some costume jewelry and some clad. Will post photos when my battery in my camera is charged up tomorrow.

Sent my detector to Garrett in Garland, TX.. anxious to get her back before the snow hits the ground here in upper midwest!!
Excellent customer service I gotta say...
