British Virgin Islands Trip

Diane

New member
Have any of you guys or gals ever been there? If so did any of you metal detect any of the islands? If so how did you do? We are going to be sailing all week in a trimaran and going from Island to Island. I know that we are definitely going to hit Virgin Gorda which I know is pretty populated. Most of the other islands aren't that populated. I am trying to figure out whether I want to take my detector and go through the hassles of customs and all that for maybe one or two islands. What do you all think? I really need your imput. If you care to send me a PM that is fine. Thanks in Advance.

The BVI's are a sailer's paradise according to friends of mine who spent several years sailing the Caribbean in their ketch, Great Bear. The Baths on Virgin Gorda and Foxy's on Jost van Dyke are must sees but your best bets for detecting beaches are on Tortola and Virgin Gorda. The waters are pristine and you shouldn't have any problems with detecting as the BVI's are very laid back. It would be a shame to go to a paradise like the BVI's and not get in the water with your detector.(you can only drink so much rum after all):buds::lol: Stick to the busier beaches with tourist hotels on them and you should be able to make it worthwhile to take your detector along. Don't forget to share your pics with us when you get back as it is a truly beautiful group of islands.

Cheers,

Thanks so much for the information. I have decided to take my detector and will check out the areas you suggested. I knew that tortola an Virgin Gorda were the 2 bigger island and that is where I had planned on detecting. Will have to check out the baths and Foxy's. We are going with 21 people in 4 trimarans going from island to island. So I have a good chance of getting to where I want to go. I do appreciate your answering my post. Will let you know how we do.

We're all looking forward to seeing whatever pirate treasure you manage to bring back from the BVI's.

Cheers,

Thanks I will let you know how we do. Did youever hunt the beaches there? You didn't answer that question. If so how did YOU do? Cya Diane

I haven't hunted the BVI's myself but the tourists that go to the BVI's are well heeled so that means quality loot to be found. Good Hunting!
