British Shilling in Idaho

My buddy and I worked an area in a town today. We both started pulling Wheaties right away and I thought maybe we'd find a piece of silver before we were done. It turned out to be a hard grind. We were at it for about 7 hours and the CTX managed to pull a Rosie, a Sterling cocktail fork and a 1944 British Shilling, which has 50% silver content. I think it's a nice looking coin to add to my collection. I ended up with 10 Wheaties and my buddy had 3. He's running a Teknetics T2. A few pics!

Great finds how do u make the coins look so good? How do u clean them?

I don't do anything to them in the field. They go from the ground to a pill bottle with the dirt still on them. When I get home I rinse the silver under tap water enough to see the date and mint mark. If it's a valuable coin then I just rinse off as much dirt as I can and that's it. For the common coins I wash off the dirt then massage it between my fingers with a little pinch of baking soda. On silver the baking soda really does a great job at making them shine. It does put little micro scratches on the surface though, so be aware.

Nice finds and great pictures...My wife's Father brought a bunch of those back from England where he was stationed in WW2. maybe that's the journey yours had as well?
