British Royal Crest Medal? Help Identify?

Does anyone hav any ideas on this one?
This was also found at a Los Angeles Suberb (Van Nuys) park several months agao and I cannot find any information on i. It was recovered at a little over 8" inches deep. At first I thought I had broken the points off, but after recovering them I checked the edges where they broke off and they had tarnished over as well. Showing they had been broken long before I had found them.
This item is approx 2" inches wide and long, made of copper and you can still see the remnants of paint or guilding on the crest. 2 of the points are broke off, but were also recovered. There seems to be the back piece missing since you cannot see how it would attach to clothing or anything. On the back it is concave and I do not see any marks how another piece would have attached.
I showed it to a family member who identified the front as the "British Royal Crest/Seal". As you can see it has a horse on one side and a lion on the other side of a shield which has a crown over it (the shield) , standing on their hind legs. It looks like it may have had letters on the banner below the shield, but I cannot make any of them out with a 40x microscope.
I think it looks like it may have been a military medal/ribbon/award. Does anyone else have any ideas of what it could be or of what it actually is? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey MetalEd,
Yes, that is the Royal Coat of Arms of Great Britain (see below)

On yours, it is hard to make out the shield however it appears to match the design that has been in use since 1837 (see comparison):

Some info:
>The Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom have evolved over many years and reflect the history of the Monarchy and of the country.

In the design the shield shows the various royal emblems of different parts of the United Kingdom: the three lions of England in the first and fourth quarters, the lion of Scotland in the second and the harp of Ireland in the third. It is surrounded by a garter bearing the motto Honi soit qui mal y pense ('Evil to him who evil thinks'), which symbolises the Order of the Garter, an ancient order of knighthood of which the Queen is Sovereign.

The shield is supported by the English lion and Scottish unicorn and is surmounted by the Royal crown. Below it appears the motto of the Sovereign, Dieu et mon droit ('God and my right'). The plant badges of the United Kingdom - rose, thistle and shamrock - are often displayed beneath the shield.

Separate Scottish and English quarterings of the Royal Arms originate from the Union of the Crown in 1603. The Scottish version of the Royal Coat of Arms shows the lion of Scotland in the first and fourth quarters, with that of England being in the second. The harp of Ireland is in the third quarter.

The mottoes read 'In defence' and 'No one will attack me with impunity'. From the times of the Stuart kings, the Scottish quarterings have been used for official purposes in Scotland (for example, on official buildings and official publications).<<<
