Hit a School I have not been to before, and hunted for about 4 hours...I do not think anyone else has been here in a while either, as it was a target rich environment, and I was getting dimes and memorials at 6-8 inches..The cross is stamped CHINA .925 CZ, but I do not put much faith in it...It looks Sterling, but you never know with the stones...The thin chain is also sterling and was with the cross...The thick rope is fake...The turtle and key are pewter, and the guitar is fake..The tooth looking thing with 2 holes is a coat button...The gold and silver ring is tin, and the other is copper that may have been plated at one time....I added the tiny snap and piece of chain clasp to show how small of objects the 4.5 Super Sniper and 5x8 DD can find...
Oldest coin was a 1956 Wheat...I also found a 1965, 66, and 67x2 Quarters, and a .350 Silver 1964 Nickel...Clad total was $8.11...

110 Dimes
55 Nickels
165 Cents

449 Coins = $45.15

2 Silver rings, 1 Silver and CZ cross, 2 Silver coins, 0 Gold (Whaaaaa!!!)

Happy Hunting,

GREAT hunt, Gopher!! I told 'ya that your number was coming up!!! That's a lot of deep holes, must have required all your Gopher Super Powers!

Oh...I am paying for it today...I am so sore, I can barely move...My hands are sore too from the digging...
My feet are the worse off, as I had to take the bus to get to this site and I missed my bus back home and had to walk 2 miles with the backpack on my back...It weighs about 42 pounds...
I carry everything in it...extra coils, diggers, belts, pouches, knee pads, headlamps for night hunting, extra batteries, water bottles. towels, all my permits, notes, pens, Pro Pointer, Backout Pinpointer, extra lower rods, radios, whistle, compass, maps...
It gets heavier every month...lol...Oh, and the detector is strapped to the back of the pack of course...If I am woods hunting, the army entrenching tool adds about 5 pounds more...

HH,

Whoa! That kinda sucks after a long hunt. You did rack up some very impressive totals, though. Hope you took it easy today and got rested up. I went without a car for about a year up in Taos -- grocery shopping was fun with the pack on my back and bags on both sides of the handlebars, heh. Glad to hear that you're prepared for any contingency. The reason I finally got a GPS is that during a several month stint traveling through the Gila NF in my old Dodge van (a few years ago), I woke up one morning and decided to just run down the canyon to take some photos of an old Indian camp area. About 12 hours later, I got back to the van by sheer luck. Of course, it was about 100 degrees, no hat, no water, nuthin'. I usually have a great sense of direction, but that day it failed me completely, and I did the classic circling around thing (gee, this hill looks familiar...). Tigger was mighty glad to see me, and I was glad to sit and sip a quadruple Gin & Tonic or something.

I did that one time staying in the woods when the sun set, and my flashlight batteries were dead...I followed the sound of a barking dog to get out of the woods...took me about 3 hours...

HH,

At least you're finding rings, you'll get some gold one of these days. I think we're the only guys hunting - pretty quiet around here!

I get some mighty funny looks sometimes...I just wave and give em this big grin...The looks just get stranger then...lol

HH,
