Brief but fun hunt.

I received my first metal detector, a used ACE 350, last week. Finally had a chance to get out and try to use it on Sunday. I had my three and four year old sons with me which explains why the hunt was so brief. They were really excited until we had to dig for more than 2 minutes to find the first target. I was hunting a very small patch of unexposed dirt (about 4’x6’) around a large pine tree in our backyard. We only hunted for about 10 minutes and found the three items pictured. All three were not more than 10 inches apart. I have been reading this forum for about 2 weeks and now I understand the frustration that some of you express in having too many targets in one place. I definitely had many overlapping targets. Still, the first target I dug was the quarter, which is nothing special, it was still exciting to find some money! Completely understand the need for a proper digging tool now too.

Congratulations on a successful first hunt! Not only did you find money, you were able to share the experience with you two sons, sometimes that's more valuable than the hunt itself. You should clean the quarter up a little and put it in a coin sleeve and mark it as your first "coin find," there will be many more for you, but the first is always special :clapping: Good luck on your future hunts!
