Your probably going yo be able to read the belt buckle for the info you would need to make a judgement to what this belt is. The Co name is the Durable Log Co. My feeling is this is a horse bridle. If anyone has any knowledge and would like to access what they believe it to be then I' all thank you a head of time. George S pat. 1878 imp.1884. How should this be preserved it has been wet for over a hundred plus?

Not a bridle, a bridle goes on the animals head.
That is part of a driving harness.
The part with the brass rings lays across the horses back and is called a saddle witch is part of the girth.
Why does it say" George s pat" in your post? It does not say that on the harness.

Here is a good link to leather and other artifact conservation.
