Brian's first digs...

...we finally had some sunshine but the air was still a bit nippy but we decided to brave the elements and break that new detector in today.

First, he wanted to test drive it in the backyard to get a feel for the machine.

After digging in the wet, cold dirt in our backyard for a ghost signal I was afraid he would get disappointed, but he didn't, so off for the school we went.

We had the playground all to ourselves and the mulch was much easier for him to dig.

He turned on the machine to coin mode, set the coil on the ground and got an immediate signal. I showed him how to pinpoint and on the ground he went and commenced to uncover his first find. The screen said it was a dime...and here it is...his first coin with his new detector!!

He found another dime, a quarter and 2 pennies before cold and hunger drove us to the nearest Taco Bell!!

Now I have to wash his clothes, especially his pants, before mom gets home or I may end up wearing that detector over my head!!

Doug - the older you get - like me - the more you will want to dig in the easier mulch also :) good start Brian, Steve in so az

Another detectorist is hooked! :) WTG Brian! Ya did great! There is plenty more where that came from! :)

WTG on your first digs! Man, nothing beats diggin' in the mud

Vicky can tell where I've been by just looking at my knees (and my hands and my face and my jacket... :)

my first find was a bottle cap  so you're off to a better start than I had. Congratulations Brian - you can give your Dad a run for his money now and be his detecting buddy too. God bless ya Brian and hope your Dad gets your clothes cleaned before Mon cleans your Dad's clock
