Brian Battle...Crazy with Pain

Here is last nights update. Pete...thank you for posting both Brian's and dad's updates!!

His eyelids droop and he hangs his head, slightly tilted to one side. The TV is blaring and he tries to watch, but his eyelids slowly close and then he grimaces in pain. He holds his face with both hands and tears roll down his cheeks. He hurts.

Last night it was the same. I slept in the recliner next to his bed, or rather attempted to sleep. Every couple of hours he needed pain meds and adding the times he suctioned his trach...neither of us slept much.

Today I tried to work, but I couldn't. I made a few phone calls but couldn't think clearly, couldn't concentrate. Brian tried to sleep but couldn't. He clapped, needing my assistance and handed me this note.

"I can't sleep cause every time I lay my head down I start rolling over on my side and I'm so tired...please help me!!"

We adjusted his pillows and that didn't work. Next, we removed one pillow and added a different size pillow and that didn't work. He needs a padded safety rail that he can lean up against. Hmmm...any ideas?

It's 11:40 and I should be asleep but I can't. I have to give him his last dose of pain meds.

We tried to play a game of Yahtzee but we couldn't complete it. He handed me a note asking if we could finish it later, he was hurting too bad.

Oh, I know how you both feel Doug and Carol, it is soooo difficult to do anything or think when there is so much pain in a person's body! I know God hears and answers our prayers and why Brian has to suffer so only God knows! He and you all are in my prayers for comfort and peace that only God can give in Jesus' holy and precious name throuth His mercy & grace for those who are His own and others for whom we pray as God's Children! Remember, to call me, when Brian or any of you need immediate prayer! May God Bless and ease Brian's pain and help you all to get full nights of sleeping! Love conquers all so keep faith in Jesus, for He loves us with an everlasting love and doesn't want any of us to suffer....but 'tis in His plan for our lives here, for our having everlasting life with Him up there! Amen! Ma Betty

Welcome prodrigsr to our Forum we are glad to have you with us! I think you will need to ask God that question for His true answer, but I'll try to explain the best I know how! You see, we live in a fallen world of sin and corruption because of the ole devil, satan! He tricked Adam and Eve and does the same today by telling lies or half-truths! A corrupted world causes lot of sickness, pain and suffering and only by leaning on and trusting in Jesus, do we endure and overcome all things with His help! Sometimes, we go through trials, so our faith will grow and increase, for as God answers prayers we know what He has done for us and; therefore, we can continue to trust in Him and then we can overcome the next one even easier but it takes great faith!

Now, why does He allow us to suffer, it could be we just don't have the faith and pray the right prayers for defeating the illnesses we endure or have to overcome by following in Jesus' light and listening to God's Holy Spirit's still small voice revealing to us what we need to or must do according to God's Word by studying His scriptures which are absolutely true! If we doubt at all that He cannot do what we are asking of Him, then we don't believe in Who He really is, for God Jehovah is real and so is Jesus, Whom is His beloved Son born of a virgin, Who lived and died that we might live with Him forever more by having everlasting life with our Heavenly Father in His etenal Kingdom!

If we didn't have a choice to believe or not believe, to serve or not serve, we would be puppets on a string and forced to love God! Whom is fair and just, so He wants us to come on our own when His Spirit is calling us to come and believe in Him! Love is not a true love, if forced upon someone to love no matter what.............but would we want for force our spouses &/or children to love us? We want their unconditional love like God wants us for loving Him in Jesus' name! Why God allows us to feel sadness, pain and suffering is not His will but satan is the god of this world for now, and the way we overcome his evilness, who comes to steal, kill and destroy is by trusting in Jesus and allowing Him to direct our footsteps on God's straight and narrow path, no matter how difficult it may be as satan places roadblocks in our way and tries to destroy our faith in our One and Only God and go back to serving him and his wickedness again, after once saved!

Some people are healed and some are not and some give testimonies by their conditions in life and are a blessing to God and others, by giving Him honor and glory for the way they are....whether handicapped, very ill or disabled, it is ourself who has to accept what He does or doesn't do for us! We can pray for His healings and His blessings and He will say: Yes, Maybe or No, for He is our Omniponent God of heaven and of earth! His victory at Mt Calary won our freedom and satan is already defeated for his end will be the Lake of Fire along with all his demons and followers who refused to believe in Jesus and obey Him! That is about all I can say, right now, but if you need more and scriptures, I will try to help you in that way later! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Some things we were not ever meant to understand. Brian has surely went through so much, but he has touched so many lives in doing so.
God bless.

jmho) that when there is a lot of pain and suffering involved it takes those closest to the patient and sometimes the patient them self to get to the place where they can give it all to go and be willing to let their loved one move on to that much better place with God and where true healing exist. That is not easy for any of us to do. I remember reading a profound story some years back about a woman being very sick and she had great faith. One day her pastor came to visit her and she said to him, "I have a request." He was used to her request for prayers for herself and her family. But this is what she asked. "You have taught me very well over the years how to live and now I need you to teach me how to die." Most of the time that is the hardest part of our faith is letting lose , letting go and letting God...........I really believe that in some circumstances, that the living spirit/soul in a sick person holds on longer when those closest to the haven't really gotten themselves ready to let them go.

How true that is, DDL! My pastor's wife lost her mother quite some time ago and when she was in the hospital very ill, Sister, Glenda, said to her in love: I love you, Mom, but please know that you are free to go Home to Jesus and I love you enough to not keep you here to suffer! He is our Redeemer and He knows when it is our time to go and when we let go of our loved one and let God, then God gives them the best they need according to His plan for them! But we sure do miss them and wanted them to stay....but OH, They are free from all pain, sorrow, suffering and heartaches when with their Heavenly Father! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
