Breaking in a new detecting site

Last week I decided I had put off the park surrounding the city pool for long enough. I posted the pic a few days ago of the 'Franklin half that I found there. Well I've gpt about 7 tp 8 hours in there and this afternoon I found the 3rd half to come out of there = the Franklin and two Kennedys; In addition to a decent assortment of dimes and quarters I found 176 pennys...oh my achin back and my poor knees Out of all those
only 4 were wheats. I tell ya, they are getting pretty scarce. Sadly, no jewelry at all. I thought sure I'd find a couple of rings or something there. The middle school is across the street and dozens of kids cut across there to and from school. Of course, I've only covered about 30% of the park, so there is hope.

Lots of area left to hunt so you still could do well in the ring finds .

Thats alot of pennys MrGee. best of luck hunting the rest of the area!

I'm wagering you've still got some good finds to pull from the dirt!

Well, I've pretty much covered the park. No rings, no bracelets, no jewelry at all OOps...I lied. I found a watch. I did find a buffalo nickle, a 1929 wheat and a 1940 nickle. final count was 313 coins out of that park. A lot of pennys. I know a lot of you guys don't dig pennys, but I have yet to find an IH, so I dig them and every time I'm thinking this could be the one. The Buffalo is a 1926. Out of all those coins (plus a bunch of pull tabs ad aluminum confetti) Hardly anything was deeper than about 3 inches. Nothing deep at all. Still puzzling over that.

Some other kinds of goodies often ID as pennies so I never pass them up unless I'm pooped and in a pile of them or where the kids toss them.
