Break down for Travel ?

Ron (CA)

Member
Is this a 2-piece set up or does it break down into 3 pieces.

If I want to travel with this machine is it small enough for a carry on?

Thanks

Ron

From what I have seen in the videos and it is posted somewhere on the fourm the lower shat slides most of the way into the upper shaft!

No, they didn't mind. I first posted this info on May 11th. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?86,1698174,1698438#msg-1698438

It slides in to be 36" and if you separate the two ends of the detector the shortest is 32" per Diggers post above. I would just get a pack that fits the first measurement and we have to see how much, if any, the coil when attached adds to that.
Still doable in a longer backpack and if it's in one piece that makes things soooo much easier, quick.

Thx Digger,
Albert

Unfotunately, with those measurements it won't fit my Salewa Ropebag XL, nor the biggest Minelab backpack  Would have to look for something bigger as I simply cannot leave my house with detector in my hand (yeah, Germany is weird...).

Martin - Yeah, I mentioned the same in the thread where Digger answered this question (I asked!). Being that it is waterproof they don't want 3 pieces of course.

I actually use the Minelab pack when I go away for a few days, so not a total loss.

If anyone finds a nice pack that fits the unit in (with the coil) assembled (slid up), please let us know.

Thx,
Albert

I transport mine in the standard Minelab padded carrying bag. It wouldn't be good for airline travel. But in the backseat of my pickup, it works well. HH Randy

Thx, I have the same bag Digger but I'm on my bike or possibly public transport, so I like it more camo'd so to speak and easier to carry on those longer rides.. People often think I'm a hunter with that bag.
So, I'd just like something shorter. I will try the Minelab pack with the rod out and material over it though.

Thanks for all your help! It is appreciated,
Albert

My friends in Germany you need this: ...............Links to non-sponsoring websites are not allowed................... because in Lithuania I need it too ;)
