Near here an old barn was rejuovinated abck in the early spring.
I watched the carpenters tear it apart and make this big pile o' all the timbers and boards they removed.

As Janet and i rode past the first time i commented to her..
" i now they're gonna burn that wood, i can tell by the way they're jist tossin it into a pile".
She said.."go aks 'em for some ".
Well, i aint one to have the noive to ask anyone for anything. But alas, this past thursday i was drivin by and there
was an older fella power washin the fence so i stopped and aksed if i could buy some o' the boards.
He told me that it was his sons' house and to stop back on saturday.
Soo. saturday Janet and i stopped back and this time the owners' mom came ot the door and said.....
" oh yeah, my husband,(the owners dad) told me you stopped this week"
Help yourself and take all you want"
I was hopin for some old pine siding coz i'm makin bead board 'siding' for Janets kitchen.
But noooooooooooooooo.....it was all oak and chestnut.Poor me
There is some pine in there but most of it is badly twisted from gitin wet in that pile.
As you can see, my helper weren't all the big and strong so we weren't able to really get down into the pile.

We did manage some good chestnut beams, some oak boards and a few good pine boards.
( A LOT o' chestnut was harvested and used for house framin' and barn buildin back in the 19th and 18th centuries 'round here.
you can still go into the local woods and find 120-150 year old chestnut stumps 3+ feet across )
Here is our take for the first load. I'll be goin back, with stronger help, after i set up a place here to store the wood.
Oh boy, i can't wait to process this stuff and git it into S4S.
