Hello All.

A couple of questions:

I am brand new to relic/coin/treasure hunting, 42 years old, and want to start this adventure. Please recommend beginners equipment, metal detector to start with for around $500.00, brand/locations to buy would be helpful.

I live in Northern Virginia, Fredericksburg, any suggestions and/or recommendations would be appreciated.

I have researched detectors on the web, but would like advice from experienced individuals, initially I am looking to search for civil war items.
