hi everybody. I'm new to this forum and would like some honest answers. my problem is that I bought a Bounty Hunter Quicksilver years ago because I was a kid and it was dirt cheap. Well the dogs chewed the coil cable and a new coil cost almost as much as the detector cost to start with. So now I'm thinking about getting an ace 250 or 350 (as I still have to get a detector on the cheap) are these detectors really better than the one I have. I mean will the extra cost over buying a coil for the BH be worth it. I hate the bounty hunter By the way.

also I love the hobby even though I have only found a quarter and a few copper and clad pennies

thanks all

Im REAL pleased with the ACE250

Its better than i am at the moment which is Ok with me

Get the ACE

Welcome to the forum. I bought my Ace 250 last spring (never owned one before) and have found over 2000 coins this summer in addition to some rings, necklaces and bunches of pull tabs and rusty nails. But lots of relics and 'whatsits' too. since then I've bought the sniper coil and the propointer, both very helpful but the basic machine is a coin fiend. Go for it.

:usaflag:I hope this is evidence enough of the Ace 250's prowness. A killer coinshooter for a very reasonable price.

I started out with a Bounty Hunter Tracker4, and have found that the Garrett machines are significantly better in just about every way. Most particularly, they are more stable and less susceptible to falsing. I've had the 250 for a few years ( did did sell my first one because I'm not that fond of the bell tone but bought another one because I did enjoy using it) but the jury is out on the 350 as nobody has used one yet. It has only 8 notches for non ferrous targets compared with the 250 which has 11 notches. It seems that the 350 may have some improvements over the 250 that we can't experience yet, but it's only days away from release.

A vacuum cleaner is better than that BH. :) The 250 is the most sold detector in the country and the 350 will probably be equally successful.

lol I agree with that vacuum cleaner remark. and thank all of you for a warm welcome and the answers. thanks for the vid McDave it makes me want a 250 more than I ever did

btw: I went out today with said BH all spliced up and looking like a monster, and only found some chopped up pop cans and 9mm brass

There ya go..... See the BH Quicksilver isnt a completely useless example of a metal detector as most will say. Nope it sure isnt. Fact is it can always be used as a good dog chew if it had to  Get the Ace 350 so we all will know asap how it performs !

Tony, a dog chew was prolly all this quicksilver was worth before the dogs chewed it. Infact, me and a friend dubbed it the "lie wand" because of all the false signals

Welcome to the forum!!! I have to agree with everyone where the ace250 is concerned this detector is great!! My first hunt with mine was in the middle of june. I have found over 1600 coins,4 rings 1 bracelet and lots of other oddball stuff. dabbie1 is right, you can't go wrong with the ace250! I can't wait to hear some reports on the ace350!!

From the land of the Bluenose.....welcome aboard mate and good luck on the machine. Whatever you have be one with it. Dig and they will come!

I hunt with Bounty Hunters and an ace 250. I have the discovery 2000 and pioneer 202. I have nothing bad to say about them at all, they all have their advantages and disadvantages.
I mostly use the ace 250 now ,,it does seem to go a little deeper, not much, also it has pinpoint function. The biggest advantage are the batteries. BH's use 9 volt,,which are expensive compared to the deals you can get on AA's from home depot.

Good Luck
