Brand new CTX issues right out of the box

As I remember there is a Minelab rep with a presence on this forum. Hoping they can get this straightened out for me. Received my brand new CTX3030 yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the control head was loose. You could feel the play in it left to right and front to back. This is my 3rd new CTX3030 and neither of my other 2 units had any play whatsoever in the control head. The second issue is the volume, it drops out randomly and then reappears .You can see a target reading on the screen but no audio signal. Does not matter if it is on speaker, straight wired headphones or through the wireless module. Very disappointed. Assembled and charged it last night and went out for a hunt this morning and it didn't last 20 minutes before I had to give it up.

Really hoping Minelab takes care of this to my satisfaction.
I have been a good spokesperson for them over the years and have recommended as well as really enjoyed their products. I also own both the EQ800 and EQ600 as well as an E Trac with no issues and seemingly very good quality.

Send an email to "service@minelabamericas.com," and either Tracy or Jamie will help you out; they'll get you an RMA number, have you send the machine to the new Minelab repair center in PA, and I expect a very quick turnaround, as has been the case for everyone I know of who has dealt with the new repair center. I know it's frustrating to have a brand-new machine, and have issues, but I am confidenct that in the end they will take care of you to your satisfaction.

Be sure to tell them that you expect them to send you a shipping label so that ML pays the shipping to wherever they have you send it. “Infant Mortality” - DOA - they ought to cover shipping bot ways.

Thanks guys. I have emailed Jamie and am awaiting a reply. As luck would have it the wife and I are headed to Ocean City next weekend and I was hoping to run the CTX on the beach and maybe compare it with the Equinox. At least I wont be with out a detector but certainly an disappointed about this. I did state that I thought this should be resolved without any cost to me. A few years ago I received a detector that was DOA and upon emailing the company I was sent a return shipping label. As soon as they confirmed the unit was on its way back to them they immediately shipped out a replacement to me. I was without the detector for 2 days! If Minelab can match that experience then I will give them kudos.

I’ve been following your posts and thoughts for some time Choppa. And I must make the observation that you are headed for CTX territory again. Are your own findings telling you something? Just curious....:)

Very perceptive of you LOL! I have ran many units but somehow always get back to the E Trac and CTX3030. I do not want to take anything away from the Equinox units as I have had been able to put some good time on them but in my mind they will not be replacing the other Minelabs I have.
I have done some comparison hunts that I hope to share soon. Sadly I do not believe I will be able to do any beach comparisons unless Minelab performs a miracle here.

I had a warrantee issue with my CTX and was contacted by Jamie after posting on the forum to contact her for instructions on how to proceed with the repair.
I ended up like you with with a time crunch to get the machine back before I was leaving for a CTX Bootcamp.
She made a call and expedited the repair time and got it shippped out and returned the day before I left.
I’m thinking your going to be pleased with the process, have it shipped to your vacation destination as a last resort.
This was all through the old repair center so it’s most likely better now too.
I’m in Florida now and a friend had a nox 800 and we compared a few targets between the two machines .
One big thing I see is the nox will detect an aluminum can and big foil like a coin and the CTX will ID it BIG with target trace and audio.
They both go deep , corroded penny’s over a foot with the CTX were painfull

UPDATE:
I received an email from Jamie at Minelab today. Awaiting a RMA and hoping to be able to put this whole situation behind me. I will keep this post updated so those who may have issues in the future can know what to expect.

OK guys here is the update. AS stated my unit was delivered faulty last Thursday, control head was loose and audio would randomly drop out. I emailed Jamie at Minelab on Friday and explained the situation. I received a response on Monday morning requesting the serial # of the detector, my address and phone number, after receiving this info Jamie emailed me a RMA# as well as a return shipping label. I was told that as soon as they confirmed that the faulty unit was on its way back to them, they would ship out a new replacement CTX3030.
I sent the faulty unit out on Tuesday and within hours I had a tracking number for the new unit that was on its way. Today I received the new CTX3030 and all is well.
This whole experience never cost me a penny and within 4 days of contacting them I had my replacement in my hands.
I have to say without a doubt that this was handled much better that expected and that Jamie went above and beyond to make this situation as painless as possible. There is a lot of competition out there for our $ and a big part of my decision before I buy is what kind of customer service I could expect. When situations do occur, it is how they are handled that will either win or lose me as a customer. I am glad to say that I am one satisfied customer today!

I have to say,and this isn’t intentionally “shorting” anyone else at ML customer care....since Jamie showed up on this board the attitude toward their customer relations has turned a complete 180. As I said before,I hope they’re smart enough to realize who they have, she has gone right to the top as far as likable people are concerned! And that’s because she is DOING HER JOB! Awesome Choppa! Well done again Jamie!:)

Totally agree, IDX. And Tracy is equally top-notch --another ML customer care person with great people skills, attitude, and a strong desire to "do right" by the customer. I have dealt with them both, and they are superb! I hope Minelab is smart enough to keep Jamie and Tracy employed...and well-compensated. :clapping:

You were the lucky one to get the one that managed to slip thru their quality control.
Fear not ... Minelab is a great company and will do the right thing to see you get what you paid for.
