Still have 4" of snow on the ground...but Brad (Big Digger) was itchin' to try out his new SE Pro.
We got to the site and there was a solid blanket of snow.
I had no intention of even getting my machine out of the car when I saw this. I have pounded the snot out of this place for at least 20 years..so no way were we going to find any deepies when we were losing 4" of depth right off the bat.
I took a couple pics of Brad and Dave and Herky...then wondered. In the one pic...I truly believe Herky had a better shot at "sniffing out" a deepie than either Brad or Dave

I then took them to another park because I wanted Brad to at least have a shot at finding something with his new SE.
Funny thing was...right before we left the first park I told Brad and Dave...and they will both attest to this statement..."I'll take you to a spot that is absolutely beat to death but there are still some good coins left hiding in the trash. If you go super slow you might pop a keeper out. In fact the last trip there I popped out an old Injun' hidin' in the trash. That will be our best shot at getting Brad a keeper coin".
I noticed a large area under a HUGE oak tree where the snow cover was minimal...so we started there. I had also coaxed up a keeper or two here in past years and knew there could still be some goodies there if we went slow enough.
Again I had no intention of getting out my SE here. I just wanted to help Brad and take some pics if he found anything.
I saw Dave circling a target and told him to go ahead and dig it.
Well here he is fellers'... Big Dave ... in his "Terminator" glasses ... looking super cool with the "tough" look on his face ... and showing his prize ... an awesome memorial cent just like he got on our last snow hunt.

Dave...just teasin' you brother...because I can truthfully say I have never seen anyone I've ever hunted with get so good with his detector in such a short amount of time. You are very talented...and an even better friend.
After watching Dave dig his prize...I wandered over Brad's way because he was all hunched over. He had that look of excitement on his face...along with a little snot dripping down the side...and was hammering away at the snow covered turf like there was no tomorrow.
I said "whatcha' got there Big Digger"...thinking he was about to dig up a memorial cent...and I was gonna' capture it on film.
Next thing I know his face lights up like a christmas tree and he says... "I think it's got an indian on it...is that good?"
He showed it to me and sure enough I could see some feathers.

UNBELIEVABLE...but I give you my absolute word...on our very FIRST hunt together with his new SE Pro...and on his very FIRST coin dig...he popped out a 107 year old Injun'...a 1904. He skipped the wheaties and silver...and went right for the "greenie".
You talk about some hand slappin'...some high fives...and some whoopin' and hollerin'. I was stoked for him and so was Dave.
I took some pics of him holdin' it...he and Dave rubbin' it...one of him giving the #1 sign which signified his first keeper...and a super close up of it in his hand.

Seeing the excitement on his face prompted me to get out my SE for a while myself. I truly did not even feel like hunting...but Brad had me fired up because I was so happy for him.
In the next 3 hours I was able to coax up a wheatie along with the two coins pictured...a crusty beauty of an 1891 Injun'...and even more of a beauty of a bald 1911 V-Nickel

This day and this post belong to "Big Digger" though.
CONGRATS Brad. Between Dave, me, and you...we're gonna' have some good fun and quite a few memorable moments once the weather warms up.
PS: It's nice to see you "rubbin' the snot" out of your OWN Injun' for a change.
