I got out today with my new large coil on the Deus. The first field was a total mud disaster that sent me sliding back to my car. I finally found a field that I could stand up in and try the new coil. Signals are much stronger with the big coil. I dug an Indian at about 6 or 7 inches in the frozen field. It rang out strong and had a decent vdi. I was running Deus fast with no tweaks. My next target - - - and here is where I wish I could make the story better was just a quick blip. I noticed the squeak at the edge of my swing and glanced that way. Lying on top of the ground, caught up in some soy bean roots was this 1854 half dime. I was so shocked I picked it up. I have no idea what the detector would have said if I had run it over the coin. This is only my second half dime so I was pretty fired up. Maybe next time I will be calmer and get some better info for all of us.

Beauty find! And I like that story...that little squeek at the outer most end of a swing that would typically go unoticed to many hunters, or disregarded as a false, is an important lesson to us all.
