Boy, My Excalibur Is Sure Smokin', I Must Say...

...I think this is like 6 hunts in a row with gold. This is nuts!

So, I took today off from work so I figured why not hit the low tide last night/this morning. I got there at 1 AM and hunted until about 5. I ran into David from Suffolk who had a nice silver cross. I'm sure he hit a ring or two after we met up. I had just started about 20 minutes before. There weren't too many targets where I was but I got like 10 quarters, a dozen dimes, 5 nickels, and a number of pennies. Somewhere in there was the unmistakable Excalibur sound of a gold ring, not once but twice. And one with 4 small diamonds. Yeah, no big honker rock for me this time, but it's coming! I sure can't complain...

The band is 14K and the diamond ring is 10K. Here they go. Now it's time for me to get some shuteye so I can do it again tomorrow. :)

Hello,

Mike when y'all find treasures" in the water (lets say for the heck of it, "knee-deep", on outgoing tide/low tide) do they run about the same depth as those in wet/damp sand? Just wondering....

They can be and usually are pretty deep. I would say they tend to be a little less deep sometimes, depending. If you're in the rock-crush it can slow down the sinkage. But it's also hard to tell sometimes because you're digging a hole that often gets' deeper and deeper and it's a fight not to lose the target a lot of times, due to incoming waves. That was a REAL challenge last night...it was rough. I got pretty wet. I was actually hunting the wet sand at water's edge at low tide but I would often end up moving into a couple feet of water...not much more. One thing with going out there at night as I do...it's NEVER calm for me. I saw a picture Max posted one day where the ocean was so calm it looked like the bay. I wish I could catch it like that once for a change and get into the water a little more. But I'm not into fighting the waves too much. I do it when I have to.

I really liked that 3-diamond ring he got...that had my wife's name all over it. Mine's coming. Still, I AM loving that 18K chain and pendant.

Every dog has his day and we all have ours if we put in the time. Any one of us could be the one to find that $8000 diamond solitaire today. That's what kicks butt about this hobby. And when Ron found that 1/2 carat Platinum rock the other day for those people, WHERE WAS IT AGAIN??? It was in the DRY SAND. So if he hadn't been there to get it, who would have gotten it? Ina maybe??? See? ANYBODY can get that next killer find. :)

Boy, I'll say Mike nice tickets. Found .27 last night at a new location on the beach. Don't know if the spot was just lame or sanded in from southerly wind. WTG!

I'm sure it will do awesome for you. My recommended settings:

(Starting at the top and working down)

Disc = 1 (Fully counterclockwise)

Sensitivity = 12 oclock, 11 oclock if it will run stable...that's where I run it...if you need to, reduce it to 12 oclock.

Volume = I like mine about 3/4's up.

Threshold = Slight buzzing, not too loud...enough that you can hear it well is all you need.

Disc mode, of course...so you have the variable tones.

And then just keep the coil flat, sweep slow and methodically, and listen for that threshold to break to tip you off to the really deep ones. Anything a foot or less will sing out pretty good. And as Max likes to say, "Learn to speak Chinese!" :lol:

You won't find any experienced hunters running theirs in Auto. It's not that it won't do well there, but you will get significantly more depth running it at 12 oclock posistion...this is a safe amount of maunual sensitivity for the stock coil and most beaches and will usually run stable and provide more depth over Auto. If you can INCREASE it more, to the 11 oclock or even the 10 oclock position, that's even better. But usually it will start to false a little at 10 or so. So, you can run it in Auto, certainly. But if you want to punch down to the depths that the Excal is known for, forget Auto and run it like I said.
