It has been a beautiful day today and I decided to do another hike at Wakley Lake. I wanted to take the longest route just to see how long it was, I had never done it before. I took my trusty Vado camera and GPS and headed out. When I am finished I just plug my GPS into my computer and it shows my entire tract, it ever shows where I stepped off the trail to take a leak.

I did take a wrong turn and I had to back track but all in all it was one great day of hiking. I I told Mary that I figured it might take three hours and I guess it was around 7 miles. It took one minute less than three hours and it was 6.9 miles. My foot was hurting when I started out but I didn't know if I would have another day this nice and it is aching a bit now :D

I took video but have not looked at it

you don't have to "mark" your trail and can step off for a pee but what about the other peeps who don't have GPS?

we have mountains alright, but miles away, may have come down from some of the little creeks, not sure. It was reported because was near a elementary school...

I found I should not walk and shoot with that Vado. It does not have stabilization like my Sony does. I will be glad to get it back

sure we have them in Michigan but have no clue where they hunt them

Sure nice area for hiking Royal. Flat land for sure. Do they do a lot of cross country skiing there? Not sure if its happening there but it cuts out here at about 9:02 seconds in to it. Tried it a few different ways and it would stop about there.... Could that be a defective merge point? I need a lot of practice at these... I'm not very good at it at all.

First of all, I must say that I enjoy watching these video tours, thank you! Why is there not more wildlife in that area? How often do you actually see a Beaver? Are there Bear or Moose in the Area? The abundance of dead oak in the area, do you folks have what we refer to as Oak Wilt, which is a disease that kills large areas of Oak Trees? I also notice lack of people, is this normal? Are there lots of parks like this in Michigan?

Royal, again, I enjoy seeing this type of video and do thank you for taking the time to post it on the Forum for others to watch. Kelley (Texas) :)

not many are used this time of year, especially on a week day. Rarely are there any on the trails I got to though. Many go to the lake and fish. It is pretty much a nature area. It is not a zoo so when a deer hear someone coming they just stand still or slink away. I heard some coyote the last time but we rarely see them. I am not sneaking down the trail and they can easily see or hear me coming. I did see those turkey but the camera doesn't show them well.

No moose and there are bear but they are rarely seen and I have not seen one up here personally as much as I am in the woods but have seen their tracks and other sign.

I think that might be what we have, Oak Wilt. It is really tough on the oak. We have a number of them in our yard that are dead or dying. Suck is life I guess.

We have a lot of parks and foot trails and it is rare to see many people even on busy days. Most don't like to put the effort into going to the more remote areas.

there were a few hills there but nothing much. We don't have what you have for sure. Lots of cross country skiing but not for me. :D
