I picked a used one up yesterday at a local auction and had a chance to fool around with it a little earlier tonight. I was air testing different coins and noticed that the detector was seeing them at only about 6 - 8 inches. Is this a normal characteristic of this detector? I was thinking about trying the coil off the quicksilver to see if i get any improved depth/distance.. I only paid a little more than $20.00 with this detector so no matter what i think it is a keeper. I am planning on taking it out this weekend to see how it does,

Has anyone put the 4 inch coil on this machine? I'm wondering how it performs with one..

Thanks for reading

Thats about right for distance in air. With the 4 inch coil you will get about 4 inches or so in normal ground.

Thanks. We took it out yesterday and the wife kicked my butt with it.. I usually hunt with the aztec and one of the sites we hunt is trashy. she was pulling nails at about 4-5 inches.. For her first time using it I thought she did quite well.

Great find you got there...the 101 still retail for about $150.00??? Somewhere in that neighborhood...

HH,

I took it out the other night and found .55 in clad in a very short time. It's a fun detector to use. I like tone mode then switch to all metal to pinpoint.
