Bounty Hunter's Main Detector Line Finished?

 Ok,... I know that Bounty Hunter / First Texas Products and Fisher are supposed to be seperate entities. But they are in the same building under the same owner,... right? So let me ask you this. Why has there been a lot more new model "Fisher" units introduced and few (if any) new main line Bounty Hunter's past the Time Ranger? I am not referring to the cheap knockoff units sold by WalMart and others either. When I say "main line" I mean everything from the Bounter Hunter Jr. to the Time Ranger ( or actually all the detectors listed on thier website with photos). Do you think there will be anything produced past the Time Ranger? Or is most of the efforts being pushed for the "F" Series units. INQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW.:bounty::detecting:

Your right on that one...Besides adding Camo paint jobs to the old detectors, the lineup has not changed in many years...They are making new teknetics and fischer units, but no Bounty Hunters...DO they plan on dropping the lineup...Might not be a bad idea from their viewpoint, as most put down the BH lineup anyways (those not knowing any better)...If they can bring the prices of the the T and F lineups down, they might do good to go in this direction...

HH,

A dealer had the Land Star and the Land Ranger as a discontinued models. I email First Texas and asked if that was true they said those models are still in production.
Jeff63:
Do you still have a ground balance problem with that detector ?? That E Trac is nice from the ads and reviews.

I wonder what the biggest new bell/whistle that has come out in the past say 3 years? I haven't seen much change except physical style and being able to hook up to a:throw: Just an opinion....

Teknetics T2 is the hottest detector on the market. Better than E trac. Look on ebay what they are selling for.

I just read the info about the Teknetics Gamma and its 80 levels of discrimination. That seems like a waste of time and pure snake oil to me. I have had aluminum foil show up as silver. I have had rusted nails show up as silver. "Gold" can be anywhere from nickel/PT to zinc, so how can having 80 levels of discrimination be of any benefit? The weak link is not how accurately a machine can misidentify a target signal but in how accurately a signal can be procured.

Am I incorrect?

Why to auto makers make cars in 8 or 10 different colors? Personal preference. Not everyone wants to dig nails, not everyone wants to dig pull tabs.

My T-2 can be set anywhere from zero to 80 as well, my V-3 has 191 different disc. numbers that can be either on or off, so the combinations there would be nearly infinite. Mark, when they invent a machine that can tell you the composition of a target, the date of the target and if it is heads or tails, you should get yourself a dealership, because everyone on Find 's Treasure Forum, will want one.

Until that time we will have to dig some trash. Before all this snow came, on one of my last hunts of the year I dug 61 targets, only 60 were coins. With my disc. cranked that high, I won't find any gold, and I won't find any nickels, but I don't dig alot of trash either.

If you want gold you will probably need to dig alot of pull tabs. Metal detecting is like life, you have to take the good with the bad.

T2 is a very nice detector. I almost pulled the trigger on a Land Ranger. What would have been the upgrade for me is the TID and I guess a little more depth. Next payday I'm going to get the 10" coil for my Land Star. I like my muffler on a stick.

You might want to think twice about the Land Ranger. It was my first detector and I've been using it for the past 5 or 6 years. Now what I like about it, the disc. is very good you don't dig a lot of trash if you don't want to. Depth meter is OK , targets are usually 2 inches closer. Numeric target ID is a joke, why do they have numbers all the way up to 299 when all other detectors are 1 to 100. I had to test every type of coin with my unit then write those numbers down because they were noway near the chart that Bounty Hunter provides. I totally ignore this feature now. GROUND BALANCE The Machine is suppose to show AR then IR according to the instructions mine stop doing that, the meter use to go to the default which is O mine always reads -2 and I have tried everything per the instructions. I'm retired now and I have read everything ,watched tutorials, videos and read everthing on several forums. I want a normal numeric system like E Trac, Programmable multi sounds not just 3 sounds with a pinpointer attached. I like the LCD screen better and not the dials on bounty hunter, better information.Am I willing to pay for a better machine $1,500 ? If it will do what is promised.I feel if this hobby is going to go forward the factories all of them are going to have to give us more for that kind of money and then STAND BY their products and I mean All Factories. First when you buy a machine and register it or the warrenty you should not have to provide proof of purchase when you send it in for service thats just an easy out for them . I've had several small strokes and I can't remember exactly when I purchased it on vacation. Bounty Hunter can tell by serial numbers . Also and company getting $1000 or more for their machines need a better warranty than 2-3 years 5 year minimum because a lot of us won't take the chance of getting burnt again.I'll go cheap and get an Ace 250 I don't mind the loss

If you got it in Panama City, did the place I mentioned ring a bell ??? That's unfortunate with your detector. The Land Ranger has very good customer reviews.

My first detector was a metrotech 220a. Since then I have used compass, garrett, whites, bounty hunter, mine lab and teknetics. I still have a teknetics mark I the best nickle machine ever. Big bud, sovereign elite, land star, tek delta 4000 and a tek omega 8000. In looking around the web it seems bounty is going to the style of the tek and fisher line. The latest models were designed by dave johnson and team. This is all new work and is doing quite well around the world. No detector is perfect at id. A coin on edge can be a bear to identify. If you have not used one of the new detectors personally then why would you make negative comments about them. Your theories won't hold water. Look at some of the forums in the uk. Check out their finds on dirt scoured by detectors before. My omega 8000 is very similar to the T2 with a few less features but it is basically a T2. I love it and I am finding coins and mini balls in areas I considered worked out. Some items you might not dig I dis and it pays off. At 68 years I have plenty of time to dig. Remember the one you don't dig because you think it is a pull tab might be a ring worth 20,000 dollars. Happy Digging

Chris, Tried your detector at wakulla springs? I have a landstar but just bought an Omega 8000 and I am happy that I did. Went over some areas and found things I had missed. Very easy to use.

Would you believe the last time I dirt fished at Wakulla Springs was back before "86 with my Whites. Most likely they'll let you md the picnic area but no where near the main house or grounds. It's state owned now. Didn't find anything really interesting, at that time I was pretty young.
Congrats on the Omega:teknetics::thumbup: .... Just out of curiosity what does it air test at????

And why the Bounty Hunter metal detector line doesn't change. Outside of the more expensive machines, the technology hasn't really changed. The reason there is even an LCD screen in the first place is that people have come to expect some sort of ID meter, no matter how inaccurate it is. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that has rusty "silver" nails found with an eagle spectrum.

Changes in low end detectors is mostly window dressing anyway. So why bother? Bounty Hunter knows this. Tesoro had it right with their bold move to throw out the meter all together on many of their detectors.

Chris, Have not air tested it as of yet.Now I often wonder why some people want to know precisely what they are digging. MDing is a lot of guesswork. Over the years I have dug keepers that did not sound that way. If you think it is trash leave it for me or someone else to dig. Some of you may not know who George Payne is. Too bad. His designs are what made Bounty Hunter and Teknetics. He worked for other companies also. The current design team at First Texas aka Bounty Hunter, Fisher, Teknetics are doing some great work. I have a Landstar and my Tek Delta 4000 puts it down. No matter what detector you have you have to listen to the tones. Tesoro does not have meters but just may have one soon. I don't have a meter on my Sovereign Elite and that has never caused a problem in finding the riches. Before you can put down a machine as being nothing new you need to use one and read what is known about it. Its on the net just look for it. A name on a detector is just paint or a decal. Neither makes it any better. My old Marl 1 is red and black. Kinda gaudy but works super on coins. Any of you ever seen Dankowski's dvd? Fisher CZ works great for him and he can tell by the sounds what he is digging for the modt part. It is well worth the price. Never used a TR machine? Try one.
