bounty hunter zap feature on discovery 3300

I'm assuming that all the zap features work the same on the bounty hunters but I will ask about the 3300 because that is what I am interested in. Will the zap take out that whole category or just that item..
I have read a person talk about how his machine ids pull tabs with the same number every time.. and nickels something different... even though they are the same notch category.. It would be nice if you could ignore just that number to only take out the pull tabs.... if you zap a pull tab will it only eliminate pull tabs but still let in nickels or something different that is close..

I'm assuming it takes out the whole category but I thought I would ask..

My Elite 2200 has the Zap feature but I never use it. I believe it remembers the electromagnetic signature of the "zapped" target and then discriminates out that segment of the spectrum. The problem is that the "electromagnetic signature" of a target usually varies by how high the coil is above the ground, how moist the soil is, and the direction of the swing. That is why some targets will read "iron" swinging one direction and "silver dollar" swinging another.

I believe zap is a gimmick and not worth while. If I want to eliminate a segment, I just use the notch feature. Since I like finding gold, I don't discriminate-out anything but iron.

It eliminates a segment/category.
