bounty hunter tracker IV

hi all. this is my first time on a forum or chat room. got interested in md's about two weeks ago, read all the info I could find on the internetand all the testemonies and hunting stories on every forum I could find ( like this one the best) after all the reserch decided the bounty hunter line made the most sense for a newbie! In the process my wife got interested too, so had to buy two detectors. found a bounty hunter tracker IV and a bounty hunter pioeer 505 pro on ebay for the price we could afford. the tracker IV arrived first. (three days ago) I told my wife I needed to learn how to set it so it would be easier for her. I have gone "swinging" every afternoon for the last three days. after I discovered that my yard is a huge trash heap I went up in the foothills to a sleding hill (forum hint) and started working the slope there. after 3 afternoons I have a box of pull tabs, bottle tops, mitten snaps, cigarete lighters, pocket knives, nails, rifle caseings, nuts, bolts, sore arms, shoulders. knees, and fingers from digging in the dirt, also 4 quarters, 5 dimes, 7 nickels, 27 pennies all clad and a grass pipe! my opinion of this "sport" after my baptism in frustration and trial and error is, ANYTHING THIS MUCH FUN HAS TO BE ILLEGAL! KEEP THE GOVERMENT OUT OF IT SO THEY DONT MESS IT UP BEACAUSE IT JUST DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS! I cant imagine how a high end machine must perform, this tracker 4 can find anything! thanks for all the good advice I have been reading in these forums. ed

And with a little practice and a little experience your three day total now, will be less than a slow afternoon in the future.

Those Tracker IV are mean machines, not great on depth, but great on coins if they are a few inches from the top. good luck to both of you.

I have a tracker IV too, for only three days you have done a good job

Great machine I won !st place in the FMDA hunt in Laughlin Nevada TWICE with the TR IV and I was over 60 doing it,,,,

JUST WAIT TILL YOU GET THE OTHER ONE.. The Pioneer 505 in Auto-Notch is a Newbie Coin Shooters wet dream !!! It LOVES Silver, Copper, & Brass while IGNORING most poptops & all iron.
The 505 also can tell the difference between new ZINC pennies & the copper ones.. Who wants to dig 6 inches or more searching for a corroded beyond recognition 1 cent reward?
And It gets even better with practice!! You will begin hear the subtle tone changes & variations that tell a good hit from the trash, be able to judge shape & size as well to see the beer can that 'looked' like a 50c coin. And in time, you can start using the more complex settings with better results in the pouch..
ANYONE should be able to make the 505 pay for itself with a couple of months work, With any luck in just one day. And nowhere else do you get PAID to excercise!.. DOC

Thank you for the encouragement, I have the basics of both machines pretty well mastered and have found over 1500 coins so far ( I even get excited about zinc memorials! ) but i am getting real curious about the more subtle settings on the 505. unfortunately winter has hit and the ground is a rock. But I am waiting on the snow pack to get thick enough for the tubers and sledders to start donating. hot hands pack and an ace bandage on the control panel and away I go. Merry Christmas! Ed in co.

Nice thread. Knew a guy that would eat other MDer's lunch with a T-IV. In good hands that machine can be a great coin/ring finder..
