Bounty Hunter Prospector DX

Anyone familiar with the BH Prospector sold only at Bass Pro Shops? I assume this the equivalent of another BH model sold under another name. Just starting out and I am considering this model. Thanks.

ok so whats this one? i picked it up at the local flea market for 10 bucks. thinking it would be good for one of the kids to play around with.....

Looks like the Bounty Hunter Pioneer VLF...6" on coins, 2' on large objects, 2 tone audio, discrimination, signal intensity meter, 6 1/2" coil...$99.00 MSRP...I have not heard of anyone using one lately, but Bounty Hunter still makes them.

Great deal for 10 dollars...If is essentially a Tracker IV without the fancy "muffler" control box and minus one audio tone I think...
Was most likely someone's starter machine...it will still find goodies though...:detecting: :clapping:

The DX looks like a good machine, looks like a 505. Should be a great machine to start on.

Thanks, I am going to give it a work out over the next week. Any do's and dont's for starting out? I am completely new to this and will be starting out on a beach vacation at the Outer Banks. I am actually going to buy it tomorrow. Any tips on the digging part, what to use etc? Thanks.

If your first trip is to the beach, then your next purchase should be a sand scoop. I have an old one like this that gets a work out now and then, but i couldn't imagine beach hunting without one. good luck and HH! JJ

Yup...A good sand scoop is a must on the beach...Also, I have never used one of the machines with just the needle...I would say, that if you get repeatable tones, and the Intensity meter is showing a constant and preferably high reading...DIG IT!!!...Sand digging is hard, as the sand tends to fall back into the hole your trying to dig...Also, I would check out the description of the detector at:

http://www.detecting.com/products/product.cmdl?c=748a6f23e51478a9

You can get the manual for the detector on that same page above...look in the lower right of the page to download it in PDF (Adobe) format...
Make sure the coil is waterproof if you intend on putting it in the water...it should be...
Hope you post your pics of all the jewelry your most likely to find on the beach...
