has anybody tried to attach a in the ear earphone to the bh probe,so you could hear it in difficult times? if so,where would you attach the wires.i improved the sound somewhat by strategically drilling some holes to help let the sound escape.this okay if there is no heavy noise in the close viscinity.so i thought an earphone would be even better.can anybody help ? hh blowfly

You would have to take the case apart, and tie the leads from a set of earphones to the same points that the wires from the buzzer are attached...This should work fine, but it will also pose a greater drain on your batteries...Both the buzzer and the headphones will emit a noise...the noise from the headphones will most likely just be white noise, as they will not be getting an audio signal, but a flat DC signal....

HH,

thanks gogogopher, both the wife and i thought that would be what we needed to do,but we thought that we should ask someone with more experiance.hh see ya blowfly

well the best thing to do is move the led light on the board,, drill in to the handle add wires to the board where you took
the light off an soder the wires to the led bulb you can get bulb holders at radio shack ck my earlier post there are pictures of the inside of the detector
also GoGoGopher has some pictures on here some where he got me on to the ideal
with the led light on the outside you can see the light come on an know you are on the target, much better than the sound

reading what you said tabago and looking up gogogopher old post i proceeded to pull down the pin pointer. my hands tend shake when concentrating on small fiddly jobs, soldering is for me a no,no. cut to the chase,i drilled a two small holes through the case close to the existing led .joined the holes up,glued a peice of clear plastic over the opening.solved the problem. it works great! now i have light and sound.i know the light will show only on one side,i can live with that. when i get rich the garrett pro in australia is only $266.00 nothing's cheap for us.hh see ya blowfly

Blowfly: Here is a cheap metal detector from Harbor Freight. Don't know if you have them in Australia. But it is very inexpensive $16.99(US), has an led light, sensitivity adjustment, and on/off button. It is larger than a BH, but I feel it has better sensitivity. I have both BH and the Harbor Freight, but find myself using the HF more. I like the light for looking into the holes. It might be option. I only wish it had a smaller rounded probe, but I am working on that. I may pull one apart and try to make my own smaller rounded probe. Good Luck and HH

rivermarine1 i was going to go that way and buy one from harbour freight, when i asked they didn't have any in stock,so i bought a $95.00 bh from the local store.things might be cheap to buy in your country but they ain't here! hh see ya ! blowfly
