my only claim to this site is that i own a bh electronic probe and like many of you i originally bought it because it was the only one here in australia that i could buy and afford.many of you live in the usa and other foreign places, where you can choose what you want from the local store.when i first got it ,it was heaven, not having to stick my into dark and dirty places seaking out the elusive coin or treasure.having said all this pre-amble,my point is using this probe is to me wonderful ,however if you don't change your batteries frequently you will have problems.i have drilled several holes in the plate between the battery and buzzer/electrics area to allow more sound to escape.also a couple of holes in the battery cap.lastly i try to keep the probes grip area free of any dirt or muck that may impede the sound radiation.my hearing ain't the best ! i can still hear the probe telling me what's what.:detecting: hh

That's good enough. everyone is welcome here and we all have a common interest. I too have a BH probe and a cheap Harbor Freight. I like the ability to probe into the sides of the hole with the BH, but like the extra range I get from the Harbor Freight one. The Harbor Freight one is actually a nail detector for wood work that they ship in from China. Only cost$14.95 US. I also like the LED lite on it for looking into dark places.

Lots of good knowledge around, if you have questions, just ask. Someone is likely to respond. By the way, where are you located. I spent some time in Perth a few years back..

Welcome aboard. HH
